David Briggs

David Briggs has specialised in property work since the early 1970s working for Taylor & Humbert and Theodore Goddard.

He then set up his own firm, David Briggs & Co., and operated from Walton Street for 25 years building up a substantial private client base and working for both commercial and residential developers, before joining Decimus Fearon.

Nick Lane

PartNer

Nick studied Classics at Trinity College, Cambridge, before qualifying as a barrister then solicitor. He specialises in all aspects of construction and engineering law, with a particular emphasis on dispute resolution. Before joining Decimus Fearon Nick was a partner at Olswang LLP and Mishcon de Reya LLP. Nick is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Building, an editor of Pickavance on Delay and Disruption in Construction Contracts (4th ed, Sweet & Maxwell, 2010) and a co-author of the CIOB’s Time and Cost Management Contract Suite (rev. ed. 2015). Nick is also an occasional contributor to the industry press.

As well as drafting and negotiating construction contracts and documents, Nick has extensive experience of representing clients in most forms of ADR (including mediation), adjudication, expert determination, arbitration and litigation in the Technology and Construction Court. Nick’s particular strengths include advising on pursuing and defending claims concerning:

• Building and engineering contract final accounts and valuation issues

• Delay, extensions of time, liquidated damages and loss and expense

• Defects

• The construction aspects of agreements for lease, forward purchase agreements and development agreements

• Construction professional negligence

Faiza Lone

Faiza Lone qualified as a solicitor in 2001.  She joined Decimus Fearon in January 2008 as a Consultant to head the Private Client Department. Faiza was previously in charge of Private Client work at a leading London law firm (Ross & Craig Solicitors.)
